Tree Populus nigra Black Poplar, European Black Poplar Tree
Description Polulus nigra, commonly known as Black Poplar, is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree to 30m tall. Branches are narrow and upright and bark is grey, rough in texture and strongly furrowed. Produces attractive autumn foliage when leaves turn from green to yellow. It produces small red flowers in catkins that hang from branches.

Uses It is often used for windbreaks, avenues, and screening in large landscapes. As a tall fastigiate tree, it is a popular selection for driveways and avenues with space. It is native to Europe.
