Sweet Carolina Magnolia Tree (evergreen) 'Sweet Carolina' is a medium growing evergreen tree to 4m tall. It has glossy mid-green leaves and stunning huge creamy white flowers with a heavy perfume in spring and summer. Light burgundy new growth in spring is very attractive. This is a variety suitable as a stand-alone specimen tree but also makes a lovely medium screen. It can be trimmed into a hedge if preferred. It grows and flowers best in full sun positions. In part shade, flowering is considered steady. Prune to shape in spring. Benefits from the application of a balanced long-term fertiliser. Magnolias require organic, well-drained soil with summer irrigation for success. This tree is a low water user once established. |
