| Description | The Madrone / Madrona is an attractive evergreen tree with smooth russet orange sinuous trunks, with peeling bark and thick green leathery leaves. Originally from the Pacific Northwest coastal and Mountain areas of the North American continent, it is native to Canada and Western coastal states of USA, including California. It produces white urn-shaped flowers born in upright clusters in spring followed by red to orange smooth round fruits. While the fruits are edible when ripe, that are considered unpalatable and astringent. | ||
